Hi, I’m Erika Myers.
Thank you for being part of my passion project. I’ve dedicated my life to decarbonizing our transportation system and as an electric vehicle researcher for the past 13 years, it has become painfully obvious we are missing a critical piece to this EV transition — women. In the United States, women are the key to unlocking the potential of the EV industry, but have been largely overlooked – not just as consumers, but as valued contributors to this growing field. In the U.S., women influence over 80% of vehicle purchasing decisions, but make up less than 25% of the automotive workforce. Together we can create positive change both environmentally and socially with an EV transition.
Read my white paper, “Why the Electric Vehicle Industry Needs More Women,” which uncovers startling data on the current and future rates of EV adoption by women and identifies the urgency for achieving gender equity in the EV transition.
Leveraging the knowledge and generosity of my friends in the EV research arena, I’m happy to present original data about women’s purchasing behaviors, preferences, and needs. I’m also thankful for my EV-loving friends who helped me get this site off the ground, including Leigh Yeatts, Courtney Galatioto, and K Kaufmann.
As someone who has spent the better part of my career studying EVs, our household only drives electric – a Nissan Leaf and a Tesla Y. We charge with 100% renewable energy and use a smart charger to minimize our impact on the grid. I LOVE my EVs and will never go back to a traditional internal combustion engine ever again.
